  1. Ooh that sounds good Kathryn. My ideal retreat would be a castle in Ireland or Scotland. Happy to be inside writing while the rain comes down:)

  2. Fortunately, I lucked out a year ago and moved to my ultimate writer’s retreat at my new home on the banks of the Blackwater River in NW Florida.

  3. I’m a mountain girl. I’d love a comfortable cabin with beautiful views, a fireplace, and a small community within walking distance libations, food, and conversation. Heaven.

    • I like the small community aspect, Jordan. It’s a small group here at Scituate, and we’re really bonding and providing support for each other.

  4. I love my home office and this is where I write best. I’m surrounded by my research texts and mementos of my books and travels. I’d be too distracted elsewhere to concentrate.

  5. My writer friends always go to the mountains of Colorado. We have amazing views, beautiful hikes if we want to venture outside, and can walk into town for dinner/drinks as a reward for our hard work during the day. We just did another one last weekend in Breckenridge and my word counts are never higher than those weekends away. 🙂

  6. I have to admit where we live isn’t bad – just have to walk out the door for a view of the Rockies:) So it’s not a bad stand-by since I don’t have a castle on hand…

  7. There are some places around Flathead Lake that are nice and quiet. Holland Lake Lodge north of Missoula is just perfect. They have a quaint bar and restaurant, too. You can ride horses up into the Bob Marshall Wilderness for inspiration. Actually, my deck works pretty darn good, and there’s WiFi out here, too. And you can smoke. And play with dogs.

    Cheers all!
