Which writers conference(s) do you plan to attend in 2018? What is the most important reason for attending a conference, in your opinion?

  1. I’m hoping to go to Thrillerfest this year. I’ve never been; each time it rolls around it seems I’m involved with something else. But this year, I’m determined to change that pattern. For me, the most important reason to attend is to mingle with writers I know, as well as meet new friends. I have so many close friendships with other writers, friendships that mean the world to me. To meet them in person would be a blast.

  2. I’ll be attending the Key West Mystery Fest in June and NoirCon in November. Possibly Bouchercon in St Petersburg, but I don’t know yet.

The Key West Mystery Fest is always a good time with good people in attendance. NoirCon (organized by the indefatigable Lou Boxer) is all noir, all the time, so how can I not go?

  3. I’m going to Left Coast Crime in Reno, and most likely RWA because it’s in Denver, which makes it driveable. I haven’t been to RWA in years, so it should be interesting to see all the industry changes. I like the networking, the face-to-face. Writers tend to be solitary, and when you live in the boonies, it’s a double-whammy (although after about 8 hours in rooms full of people, I tend to run to my room to decompress). If I can swing it, I’d like to go to Edgar Week. Haven’t ever done that, and there are a lot of people I’d like to gape at in awe.
