What’s something you haven’t done yet that you absolutely must do before you kick that bucket? Do you plan to write about it?

Ireland. Roots.
Haven’t seen Springsteen yet, or Bowie. Other than that I’m pretty comfortable with the life I’ve been leading.
Or the Stones, but I guess that ship has sailed.
As one who has seen Springsteen 52 time and the Stones oh, maybe 12 times in 20 years…Bruce, yes, there is still reason to believe. Mick…it’s the same schtick every show. Save your benjamins. π
I saw the Boss twice last month on my vacation. Yes, go . . . (and 52 times? I must loathe and despise you now π
And yet, envy and respect
Run a 100-mile trail race. I’ll definitely write about that.
You know. After replying off the cuff, I started mulling the difference between life and fiction. I came up with:
What if you ran a 100-mile trail race in the middle of an Alaskan winter in order to exorcise your personal demons and you discovered your wife’s lover was another competitor…and he wants you out of the way?
Yep. I want to write about fiction, but I sure don’t want to live it!
Run a marathon. But I think that ship has sailed. See Ireland. No roots, James, but must go anywho Parachute. Might have to wait for husband to croak first. Go to the moon. Sigh…I really thought this would be possible in my lifetime. Not confident anymore. Finish the current stand alone. Ditto above.
Retire from my daytime job. Write fiction in the morning. Do woodturning in the afternoon, including inventing new projects that could be published in the trade journals. I invented a game – a hybrid of bocce, petanque, and golf – and built a course to play it on – Plexus. I need to write a book on how to build and play Plexus.
I’d love to visit the UK again. I’m sure it would influence my writing.
Join you guys on this blog as a bone fide author with a well received following if not a best seller. I’d write about that with gusto.
This is a respectable website, so I can’t go into detail. But what’s at the top of my bucket list involves hanging on until a certain pair of super-rich brothers die, and then visiting their gravesites. Certainly I would want to write about it, perhaps a few lines of doggerel.
Actually, I have a related wish. If I kick that bucket first, I want to be cremated, then have my ashes blown in those brothers’ eyes. If I outlive them I want to go to their graves – and dance on them!
Dancing is good. What I have in mind is better.
My bucket list includes:
1. Travel outside of North America in the flesh without the use of mind-altering technology.
2. Eat the perfect meal.
3. Take my wife on a balloon ride.
4. Travel across US & Canada in my RV for a year or more visiting all the sites, writer’s conferences, and narrator’s conferences.
5. In said travels, visit all the people my cousin Leonard has or will visit in the time machine and show them a photo of him so they will understand he wasn’t a total nutjob.
1. Be well-agented and published. (working on that one)
2. Fit in a size 8 again. (not working hard enough on that one.)
3. Damn . . . I’ve always tended to do what I want, so “bucket list” like Paris and Route 66 and Springsteen have all been checked off. But, I second Basil’s entry of being able to take off in my little RV and stealth-camp at conferences and write at pleasant roadside stops.
4. Scrabble through the last 17 payments on my mortgage and 24 payments of my smaller student loan and the freedom that entails.

Hmmm. I don’t have a bucket list. Sure, I’d love to have a bestselling novel, but other than trying to be the best writer possible, I don’t have a lot of control over that one.
I’ve traveled a lot in my life and even lived in several countries other than my own for a number of years, so, while I love to travel, I’m content with the amount of traveling I’ve done.
I guess the only real thing on my bucket list is to be able to give up my part-time job to write full time.
I plan to get my WIP up on Amazon Kindle, and quite a few more after that.
