    • Thanks Diane! I’m in awe of my co-bloggers, as well as all the talented people who visit us in the Comments. So happy to be part of the community!

  1. Congrats TKZ! And I’d say more like Top 10!

And don’t mess with my numbers! Way better than the hieroglyphic “captchas” anti-spam filters. Numbers I can read!

    • I’d rather see you trust your spam filters a bit more and not make commenters jump through hoops. Numbers or squiggly letters–it’s still one more step, and sometimes it takes a while for the captcha to show up, so you’ve already clicked away.

  2. Well, woo-hoo!! This is the best blog goin’. I keep sending everyone over here.

Now Jodie has gotten me on Twitter and I’m lost in the wires somewhere and not getting a thing done. Thanks for that.

    • There’s a very simple captcha if you feel obligated to use one — says simply “type any two numbers” But I still say it’s worth trying without it to see if your spam filters catch the spam without it. Mine does. The number string is a pain, but there’s this other little “house number sign” thing that is usually too faint and blurred to read.

However, I’m still thrilled for your award!

    • Understood, Joe — I’ve used WordPress and Blogger as platforms and found their spam filters were excellent, but if spam has escaped the traps with whichever filter you were using, I guess I’m stuck trying to read those house numbers to comment. But in about 8 years of blogging, I can count the spam comments that got through on my fingers.

  3. Outstanding! Gnillii & Fillii had paid them a visit recently, I wonder if that had anything to do with it?

Berthold: Hey! Where’s my pot of gold?
Gnillii: Pot of gold? I dunno.
Boffin: Yeah, mine’s missing too! We’ve got a thief!
    Berthold: FILLII!!!
Fillii: Oh, look at the time. Hate to run, I have a doctor’s appointment to get to.
Gnillii: Oh yes, me too. Gotta go to the doctor.
Boffin: What have you done with our gold?
Berthold: Doctor huh? What kind of doctor are you going to see?
    Fillii: Um…uh…my dietician!
    Gnillii: My obstetrician!
Fillii: yeah, that’s what I meant to say, me too, the obstetrician.
    Berthold & Boffin: ?????????
Boffin: You’re going to need a orthopedistician!

  4. Congratulations! Not surprised, though. Informative and friendly, it’s bound to be popular.

Speaking of WD, if I may steal the thread for a moment, I see they’re having a writers’ conference in New York in August. Has anyone been to any of WD’s conferences? Would you recommend this one? Harlan Coben will be there, that’s enough for me, but it will be expensive.

  5. I’d say this is well-deserved, and as more and more group blogs go the way of the dodo, I love that you guys keep coming with more and more material that’s really helpful.

And I would imagine the traffic this blog gets would quintuple the SPAM problems. Even with the captcha, I saw a Spammer get through earlier this week, but someone deleted him before I could drop a snarky reply.
