Reader Friday: Desert Island Film Festival

Okay, you’re stuck on that proverbial desert island. No one around, but for some strange reason there’s a movie house and a trained monkey that knows how to run the projector. What three films would you want to have with you, one from each category:

1. Drama

2. Comedy

3. Musical

(We at TKZ will try to air drop you some popcorn)

  1. 1) Sunset Boulevard

    2) Monty Python and the Holy Grail

    3) Animal House (Sure it’s a musical. Otis Day and the Knights.

What, no westerns? (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.)

  2. 1) Band of Brothers – a) it’s long, b) it’ll make me grateful it’s just a desert island and not a desert island full of people trying to kill me.

    2) Noises Off with Michael Caine an Carol Burnett – Because, it’s Michale Caine and Carol Burnett.

    3) Moulin Rouge – No explanation needed (also it was robbed of it’s best song at the Oscars).

  3. My categories are all mixed up–all musical in one way or another, two comedies, one pretty dramatic.

    -Blues Brothers
-A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum (although the play is much better)
    -Les Miserables

  4. Blues Brothers. It has it all.

Drama: will Carrie Fisher kill Jake?
Comedy: Dan Aykroyd singing “Sometimes It’s Hard to be a Woman.” Cracks me up every time.
    Musical: Aretha, Stevie, Belushi.

  5. DRAMA: The Blade Runner

    COMEDY: Blazing Saddles

MUSICAL: Phantom of the Opera (movie could have been better, music is great)

  6. Drame: Terms of Endearment

    Comedy: Dumb and Dumber

    Musical: The Sound of Music

Clare, Valley Girl was the bomb diggity. Is it the same one which introduced Nicolas Cage? 😀

  7. Lord of the Rings
    Noises Off (same as above)
Paint Your Wagon (How can you pass on solos by Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin?)
